Petroleum Marine Services (PMS) launched the tender for the pile monitoring of the foundations of the new platform of the GNN field in the Red Sea that Geoproviders won. The work was awarded in July 2022 and executed from November 2022 to December 2022.
TASK
The development of the GNN-3 field project included the instrumentation of three (3) foundation piles driven through the jacket´s skirt pile sleeves.
The scope of work comprised the following:
• Provision of all required equipment and spare parts for pile monitoring and Pile Driving Analysis (PDA), such as above water transducers, cables, 8G analyser, and associated software.
• Provision of required personnel to supervise the onboard threading boreholes operation for transducer attachment and cable support, done by PMS, according to the drawings supplied.
• GEOPROVIDERS executed the transducer’s attachment and functionality at the barge alongside the offshore vessel.
• Provision of required personnel for Pile monitoring during pile driving; measurements of relevant parameters, such as real-time force and acceleration.
• Field report, including driving data presentation versus depth (energy, blow-count, stresses) and preliminary Capwap analysis.
• Final report, compiling all the above activities, presenting the Capwap refined analyses, and pile certification.
RESULTS
One of the piles hit a refusal before the target’s final penetration. A set of restrikes/DLT were performed for signal matching analysis by Capwap® to verify the possibility of leaving one pile shorter. The required pile-bearing capacity was achieved, and the design pile/soil characteristics parameters were certified. Despite all the constraints, working hard and being committed to providing the best outcome to the client, we accomplished the project’s success, reducing the project delay.
